Mikaela Curry is a published writer, award-winning poet, community organizer and environmental scientist with a wide range of experiences across Central Appalachia and the US South. She holds advanced degrees in biological sciences and has worked as an environmental specialist, consultant, conservationist, and researcher. She served on the steering committee for Kentuckians for the Commonwealth (KFTC), has been active in The Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival since it started in its first season of direct action in 2018, and currently serves on the Leadership Team for Showing Up For Racial Justice (SURJ). She is focused on climate justice and anti-racist organizing and is always interested in collaboration.
